Advocacy and Community Services

Through the years, the voice of Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services has been heard in our community in a variety of ways. We work with individuals and companies on on accessibility issues and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act. DeafHHS offers advice on how to satisfy those regulations and better serve deaf and hard of hearing consumers. Workshops and trainings are offered to both the deaf and hard of hearing communities as well as to the general hearing community on related advocacy issues.

We also advocate for the betterment of the deaf and hard of hearing persons' quality of life here in West Michigan. It is our hope that by working with both communities, we will bring an increased sensitivity to issues surrounding deafness to the hearing community and an increased empowerment to obtain rights to the deaf and hard of hearing communities.
